KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Prime Minister
Tun Mahathir will visit China again in April to attend the 2nd "Belt and
Road" International Cooperation Summit held in Beijing.
Mahathir, who is also the chairman of
the Turkish Communist Party, stressed today that since the establishment of the
Supreme Council of the Turkish Communist Party, he has maintained a close
relationship since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago.
He believes that although Malaysia-China
relations have undergone some changes due to the rapid rise of China in recent
years, China is still Malaysia's largest and most valuable trading partner and
one of the most important investors in China.
Strong
support for the “Belt and Road Initiative”
"When the two countries began
diplomatic relations, China is still a poor third world developing country, but
China has now achieved phenomenal development. Therefore, the relationship
between the two countries will certainly be affected, but we will maintain and
continue to improve relationship between the two countries."
Mahathir added that he has repeatedly
demonstrated in the public field that he absolutely supports China’s “Belt and
Road” initiative.
The 2nd "Belt and Road"
International Cooperation Summit will be held in Beijing from April 26th to
27th. Russian Ambassador Denisov confirmed yesterday that Russian President
Putin will also be invited as the guest of honor to attend this event.
