Human Resources Minister, Mr. Kulasegaran
said that from January 1 next year, employers must pay social insurance for
foreign workers to ensure that foreign workers receive the same social security
protection as local employees.
He said that the decision is in line
with the Equal Treatment (accidental compensation) Convention signed by
Malaysia and the standards set by the relevant ILO committee members. Many
people are working abroad, and the government hopes that they will receive the
same protection as the locals, so they decided to implement the above policy
next year.
He said that during his decades of
practicing lawyers, he has continued to strive for the rights and interests of
the people, so he will not pursue a policy of unfair people.
Mr. Kulasegaran made a speech after
visiting the Advanced Technology Training Center (ADTEC) in Kulim this morning.
He later visited a plastic factory in Kulim Hi Tech Industrial Park.
Advanced Technology Training
Center (ADTEC) Needs to be Upgraded.
He said that because the Kulim Advanced
Technology Training Center is a far distance from the city of Kulim, there are
obstacles in enrollment, and the school intends to set up another office in the
Kulim Hi-Tech Industrial Park. There are also many similar government education
units in Malaysia, but they face the problem of enrollment due to insufficient
publicity.
He added that some of the equipment
at the Kulim Hi-Tech Training Center is outdated and needs to be upgraded. Its
department will instruct the development of the 50-acre oil palm plantation of
the center.
