Director of Thailand’s National Tourism Yutasa said on
November 1 that in order to attract more tourists to Thailand, the Thai
government plans to exempt visa fee from 21 countries and regions such as China
from November 15 to December this year.
On the same day, Yutasa said in a meeting with the Chinese
media in Thailand that the National Tourism Administration of Thailand is
cooperating with relevant departments and hopes to launch this measure as soonas
possible. He said that China is Thailand's largest tourist source
country. The launch of the visa-free visa is intended to express Thailand's
sincerity towards Chinese tourists, indicating that Thailand welcomes Chinese
tourists.

Yutasa said that in the first half of this year, Chinese
tourists visiting Thailand have increased by 25%. However, the accident of the
shipwreck in Phuket in early July and some subsequent events have affected the
feelings of Chinese tourists. From July to September, the number of Chinese
tourists to Thailand decreased by 9%, and the “Eleventh” Golden Week fell by
15%. The number of Chinese tourists who entered Thailand every day was 40,000
to 50,000, and now there are only about 20,000.
In order to reshape the confidence of Chinese tourists,
Thailand National Tourism Administration has strengthened cooperation with the
transportation department, travel agencies, tourism police, insurance, telecom
operators and other parties, striving to strengthen the safety of tourists and
enhance the experience of the tour. It including in cooperation with the
Immigration Service of Thailand to launch a visa-free program.
Yutasa stressed that Chinese tourists are high-end tourists.
The Thai side attaches great importance to Chinese tourists and is willing to
take various measures to make them have a better experience in Thailand.
Director of Thailand’s Immigration, Surache, also said that
Thailand will soon introduce measures to waive visas. He said that Thai Prime
Minister Ba Yu has ordered more convenience for foreign tourists, especially
the largest number of Chinese tourists, but also need to strengthen security
and related services.
