Malaysia trademark application process, the protection is governed by the Trade Marks Act 1976 (TMA) and the Trade Marks Regulation 1997 (TMR). The TMA came into force on 1^st September 1983, while the TMR, which repealed the initial Trade Marks Regulations 1983, was enforced on 1st December 1997. Below are the Malaysia Trademark Application process.

Malaysia Trademark Application formalities are checked by Malaysian Trade Mark registry.

Step 2. Malaysia Trademark Search & Examination

If there is any ground for objection, applicant will be notified. Otherwise, applicant will receive acceptance letter for advertising of mark. (If object, will be need to response whether would like to go for Malaysia trademark appeal.)

Step 3. Malaysia Trademark Advertisement in the Government Gazette

The mark will be advertised on Malaysia Trademark Gazette for 2 months. Any third party opposition should be filed within 2 months of the mark being advertised.

Step 4. Malaysia Trademark Certificate of Registration

If no opposition is filed after the expiration of the opposition period, the Malaysia Trademark Certificate of Registration will be issued. A Malaysia trademark registration is valid for 10 years from the filing date / priority date (if applicable); and is renewable every 10 years.
